Fuel Tank Sender leak

Fuel Tank Sender leak
Greetings all. I have a 1998 XJ8 4.0 I'm currently trying to repair so I can sell, the rear wheel drive wasn't up to my liking as I got quite used to the AWD of the X-type. Especially with my rapid driving it's definitely the safer option for I.
However basically I had problems starting it a bit ago and I got it towed to a shop I have used a few times but never for this car. Basically it would crank but not start so I tried many different things to no avail and took it to them. They said its most likely the fuel pump and it they ordered it and everything and had even disassembled my tank and pump and all to find out the pump worked when they removed it. They checked the fuel filter I guess it's called and replaced it as there was water in the tank and the filter was bad. Ended up not putting in new pump and put back together for me to pickup. That's when problems started. My gas was more full then it was when I dropped it off and thought maybe they filled it for me, then thought WOW my gas mileage is great! The gas mileage on this old car was really bad and maybe that's just because its a V8 or needs new spark plugs or whatever, but since I had got the car back from them the needle wasn't moving. Then my car dies on the side of the highway one day, I put two and two together and get someone to bring me two gallons of gas. I put it in and low and behold it starts however the needle is in the same place about half full. Seems the gauge isn't reading there isn't any gas change and is staying at the same exact place. No big deal I'll just track mileage and be okay I say. Turns out one day when I go to fill up and truly fill up my car starts POURING gas out the bottom. All 15 gallons of primo gone right out the bottom. I still dangerously enough rush home while gas is pouring out and tell my self I'll work on it another day. I talked to the guys at the shop and they claimed it's not their fault and it's just COINCIDENCE it happened at the same exact time they worked on it.
Yesterday I pulled the felt liners out the back to really get a look and added gas slowly to find leak. I found its gushing out of the Fuel Tank Sender assembly edges, and I'm not even sure its the seal it's leaking from. The metal ring around the sender looks bent like it was pried out or something. Maybe that's how it comes I'm not sure. I just know I have a leak and don't see any info on removing and replacing it. How difficult it may be and do I have to fix the pressure before or after removing. Apologies I have little knowledge on how gas tanks store pressure and things. Thank you for any help you can assist.

I tried JB water weld around the metal ring as I thought it was originally coming from the metal seal but its definitely coming from the small gap inbetween the fuel sender unit and metal.
