Alright, I have a complete 01 parts car. It looks like I can buy these blank keys that have a keyless entry fob that snaps onto them fairly cheap! Problem is, the wont work with my 99. Can I swap the keyless module from my 01 into my 99? What other functions does the keyless module perform? Does it have the VIN programmed into it to prevent swapping? Will I "lock up" any other modules by wiring this one in? I just want to make sure. I know on Dodges you will lock up a non-security PCM if you install it into a car that has a BCM with security enabled, dont need anything lke that happening, lol. Thanks in advance!

 

I was really hoping someone could shine some light on this. Is the keyless module "intertwined" with other modules VIA the CAN network? Does the keyless module also handle the alarm functions? I believe the key transponder module is seperate from this one, so starting the car probably wouldnt be an issue.

 

I'd check wiring diagrams for both years see if the pinouts are the same. I know the MHZ is different. I'd like to find out too as I have a few of the fobs from the newer model sitting in a box.
