fundamental vibration in '99 V8 Sovereign

Despite my two local jaguar independent specialists and the lads at Kwik-fit assuring me, - that my tracking, wheel balancing and steering balljoints, - o yes and siezed front brake caliper - have now been cured, I can feel a wobbling type vibration when I drive my car.
They say its not there. I am not convinced.
I have driven enough cars to recognise when balancing has been cured, and when something not road speed related is vibrating.
its a bit like a noiseless version of the shudder you get on the highway when windows back and front are opened. (They are closed).
By the way wheel bearings are also apparently ok, and I did ask if sub-par shock absorbers could be at fault, - they say no.
Yet I feel it as if someone is doing the samba with me.
A chap in the parts trade told me rubber based engine mountings are used (not too surprised).
Could these have degraded ?
I also saw some threads about eccentric propshafts, or at least the prop bearings.
My main concern is that this vibration wont cause anything else to fall off.
any hints or reassurance gratefully received.

The front engine mounts are an oil-filled hydraulic affair, with a rubber top section.
You can test these as follows :
- foot firmly on the brake, engine running, bonnet open
- engage drive and rev slightly with foot still on brake.
- view the position of the engine as you so this - it should not move more than a little.
- repeat using reverse gear.
Where are you sensing the vibration, steering wheel, drivers seat...?

Dear AndyP,
thanks. I will try it.
The vibration is in the seat if anything and not at all in the steering wheel. I noticed today driving on a really smooth flat straight road the vibration was virtually gone.
It makes me wonder whether the shock absorbers might be at fault (too stiff?) I am thinking they may just feed back enough road rumble to set up a resonant vibration in the bodywork.

Dear fredd60,
its a vibration that is independant of speed as far as i can tell. I have not tried flipping through the automatic gears to test dependency on them.
i will try observing when braking and decelerating.
I mentioned to kyle04 that today on a beautifully smooth flat straight road i could not feel it, but anywhere else I do, making me wonder if it is shock absorbers setting up some kind of resonant vibration in the body work.

I only ever noticed it on very smooth roads. Looks like putting it on a hoist and having a good look for worn parts/bushes and balljoints as suggested.
Good luck, sorry I was of no help.
