Gas Pressure Shocks??

Last Saturday I replaced the upper shock mounts and sway bar end links on my wife’s 99XJ8L with 110,000 miles on it. When I removed the 5, 10mm bolts on the shock mounting plate it did not rise up like I was expecting based on what I have read on the forums. I did have jack stands under the lower a frames supporting the car on both sides at the same height. This should have resulted in the shock being at mid travel or ride height. I made the assumption that the gas pressure was not at factory spec so I ordered a pair of KYB gas-adjust as a replacement. I was surprised that the shock was still very strong in terms of smooth compression and slow forceful rebound. That replacement project will be next weekend. The end links were a lot easier to replace than I was expecting. That’s the long story now the question. Do the factory spec shocks have a higher gas pressure which results in additional ride height? I do think our cat looks a bit front end heavy.
Her car is smother and quieter than before by a noticeable amount. We have owned the car since 2004 and a gradual deterioration is not all that noticeable. Until one day you start to listen more carefully. The upper shock bushings were crushed and crumbling. Now I am thinking about the sway bar body mount bushings. And then…and then…etc.ect.
