The fuel and temp gauges on my 99 VDP are malfunctioning. They are not dead, instead, the fuel gauge reads full (only a 1/2 tank) and the temp gauge is fully in the red; they failed at the same time and are in the same cluster, so I figure they have the same problem. The balance of the gauges function normally. They were functioning fine; I turned the car off and restarted an hour later and they were instantly malfunctioning. Any ideas where to start? I don't know if it is related, but for the past year, if the under side of the car gets wet enough, the vehicle alert system goes into "stability control failure" mode. Re-starting the vehicle solves this. The dealer couldn't track down the problem despite having the vehicle for 3 weeks. It is clearly water related and is easily triggered by getting an underbody flush at the car wash. Thanks for any ideas.
