Default Gear Box Fault/ Engine Failsafe Mode

so last week i took the car out to the wash and once everything was done i couldnt get the car started up again. All the lights and electrical stuff worked fine except there was no clicking or cranking the engine. the red warning light was on saying at first gear box fault and then engine failsafe mode. I had to get the mechanic down so he could reset the codes and start up the car. After that incident things were pretty calm until yesterday, when i had a small stopover when the problem came up again. luckily i just toggled around the ignition and on the 5th try the car started and no problems there after. I anyway thought i send the car to the mechanic to check whats wrong but i thought ill ask you chaps on any tips on where to start off on. i hate to think ill have to replace the tranny i have barely done 1000km after getting it.

P.s - when the red warning light is ON i cannot change gears from park to reverse it screams out a warning tone.

Default washing

There are a few people having trouble after taking their Jaguars through a car wash. I don't know much about them, but I seem to remember, at one stage it sprays water up underneath the car. I would suspect the electrical connection to the gearbox, the selector switch on the side of the box, the connectors to the wheel speed sensors, or even the earth strap from motor to chassis, which is prone to rust.
Would also avoid washing the motor, as that seems to result in more pain.

Default

It was a standard body wash from the outside i dont let anyone touch the engine bay strictly due to the sensitive nature in these cars. but ill get on with the wheel speed sensors just to add to the list of things to check. i did notice a low coolant warning on the first day the gearbox problem which i topped up and i now i found out i have a leak somewhere which emptys my coolant in less than a week. im not sure if both are related but ill get them all ironed out when i visit the garage today.
