Gear hunting or torque converter transmission on downshifts?
I have a 2000 VDP, and when coasting from around 45 mph while going downhill, the transmission feels like it keeps shifting down then back up and then back down or the torque converter keeps engaging then disengaging. It is not harsh at all though. A typical driver wouldnt notice. This stops if I press the gas or press the brake.
BTW i have a very slow transmission leak and the transmission shifts smoothly but has a jerk on throttle lift off in 3rd gear. It shifts from 1st-2nd very quickly, 2-3rd slowly but smoothly when cold and normal when warm, 3-4 and 4-5th gear are normal.
What could be causing this? Low transmission fluid? I ask b/c I cant check the fluid level myself b/c of my parking situation and would have to take it to the mechanic.

Its a 2000 with about 95k miles. I had the transmission repaired about 15k miles ago. Maybe dirty MAF? I'm letting my brother drive the car for the next couple of months and I'm worried about this transmission! I'm going to be across the country. I had a dirty MAF in the past about 35k miles ago that caused a similar sensation when accelerating very quickly around the same speed (about 45mph) but not while coasting.
