Gearbox fault
Hello Everyone I am after some help and would like to pick your collective brains. I have a Jaguar Auto. 3.2 XJ8 which is showing the message "Gearbox Fault". It is having a great deal of difficulty pulling away, then there is an almighty thump and the car shoots forward. As it accelerates it is OK it also is fine when reversing. Does, this mean that I am going to need a new gearbox, or is their any other reason for this fault i.e can a repair be done on the gearbox? I would be very grateful for any help given. It is a lovely old car (year 2000) and I would be very sad to have to get rid of it, but there is a limit to how much you can spend on a car as old as this. Thanks Barry
