Gearbox Rebuild

I have my zf transmission out and sitting on a bench due to little to no forward movement in my 2000XJ8.
I've drained the fluid and found nothing scary in the oil. No chunks and only fine debris clinging to the magnets.
I suspect the forward A drum but thought it wise to get advice and counsel now rather than after I start disassembly.
Anyone have a repair manual for the 5hp24 they are looking to part with? Also suggestions on where best to acquire the kit needed for repair ( I'm in Hawaii) and anything else that could be helpful.
I saw on YouTube a strong suggestion to only use OE filter the one that says made in Germany. And I've also heard mentioned ( BANNER KIT ) to be ordered for a rebuild. Does anyone know if this is a partial or complete kit? As always a big Aloha to my Jag buds.

He is a link to jagrepair.com for the ZF manual.

You meed to get the drum put to see what needs to be dome. The A drum can fail without fragments in the pan. I just finish my 4th A drum repair. I took some photos and will help in getting to it. Give me a few to get the photos together and I will post.

Remove the darker bolts only

Lift the drum from the transmission. Then put the drum on a clean place so you can disassemble the drum
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...=1490572838rum.
Remove the retaining ring and disassemble drum.

Inspect the A drum and post photos. you can see how mine failed but didn't detach from the drum.

After posting photos can assess what you need. Sorry for not having a good presentation, I do drywall and work on cars. I'm not a computer tech.

I have begun the tear down by separating the bell and stator from the trans and pulling the input / A drum from the housing and somewhat to my dismay the A drum was in tact and looked fine.
Then I noticed the bearing remaining against the C drum was coming apart.
Not yet sure if that failed bearing allowed O rings to fail or what created the gearbox failure but I guess I'm knee deep now.
Thanks for the feedback so far my friends.

I just finished a rebuild...last week!
Try Cascade Transnission in Washington state. They have a complete kit less the bearings.
Check the drums that contact that damaged bearing. If there is any damage consider replacing the affected part.
I wouldn't reassemble the transmission with the original A drum. I used a upgraded replacement with the 'alligator' retainer...it looks like a stronger design. I would also replace the pressure regulator valve in the lower valve body.
There is a lot of info on fluids that can be used...almost everything I've read says to use ZF Lifeguard 5 or Pentosin 1. According to the people expressing an opinion, avoid the universal fluids from Vavoline, etc as they may lead to harsh gear changes. I used the Pentsin and the trans is as smooth as can be...
And, lastly, YouTube is a tremendous help. There are a number of videos by Gary Ferraro that are pretty good...
Good luck!
