Sounds like the car is in top shape now, good to hear! At least if you need to sell you can be honest and put the buyer at ease that all major systems are good to go...unlike the guy who sold it to you. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

Thank you and yes, I'm very happy I was able to bring this car back to the shape it deserves. It was truly a pig with lipstick when I bought it, but now I would feel good about selling to someone as a reliable classic.

Thanks for the kind words, i'm not sure I can actually bring myself to sell it, as we've bonded, but when I have to rent 2 extra garages to store my cars, its not ideal, so may be necessary.

Will update the thread as things progress.

I can understand that. Once you put that much work in its hard to move on. I recently went through a purge and have sold 3 cars over the past 6 months or so. It's really nice having the extra garage space and weight off my mind with so many other things going on, but lately the empty bays have been asking to be filled...It's a never ending cycle as I'm sure you know. Resisting the urge to get something else as I really don't need it. I've fallen in love with my X356 and have been seriously considering getting an 04-07 XJR.

This JUST happened to me.

My car has rust and damage issues that were never brought up even though I asked. And then when I discovered the cars ASC kicks on and locks the right rear wheel over certain bumps I asked the seller and he literally said "I never paid it any mind the car might need new tires" lol so he never mentioned it. I SPECIFICALLY asked does the car do anything funny or strange that I'll have to worry about when I get it. Dude was a lying unprofessional sack. That reminds me I'm gonna go leave a review lol

so 2024 update, car is doing well, been driving it over the holidays as much as possible. Few things done as nice to haves and some things done out of necessity, but nothing crazy.

Necessity:
Front suspension ball joints. Drivers side lower was definitely worn. The remainder were loose but not destroyed. I did the upper and lower control arm bushings at the same time, but I don't think they really needed it. Car drives nice and this removed a slight clunk on bumps and some vibration at 55mph.

Front rotors....prior owner installed new pads on worn rotors.

New connectors and wiring to TPS and PPS. When cold or very wet out, I would occasionally get the throttle hanging for the first few minutes of driving. Replacing the wiring and connectors has completely solved that problem. Cleaning or trying to paint conductive silver did not work.

forward rear subframe bushings. the big boys. Not a real noticeable difference but glad I did them.

Nice to haves:

1. Threw on new rear rotors to match the fronts. Slotted and drilled just for boy racer looks, no actual benefit of course for street driving.
2. Goodridge SS lines. Maybe a tiny bit of pedal feel improvement over 25 year old stock lines, but could just be placebo. Front fitment was great, rear fitment required filing down the female connector ends to get through the body bracket.
3. Added the center rear console extension.
4. Added rear cigarette lighter so I could put my fm modulator bluetooth back there and free up the front ashtray door.
5. Added a switch to the antenna motor power signal. With my fm modulator and the one clear station, the massive antenna would give me some static in my urban area. Now I hit the switch, antenna goes down and the radio station is very clear with no static.

Car is now good to go for the foreseeable future. I can't think of any more projects I want to do either, aside from maybe some paintless dent repair and wheel refinishing.

Elected not to purchase the L405 supercharged RR. I just couldn't justify the big price tag when my car is perfectly fine and I don't drive all that much.

Happy new year all.

Massive work! Glad to hear you were so successful too. Great satisfaction when DIY repairs turn out well!

Well, nothing to do with the car, but the seller seemingly enjoys committing fraud (allegedly) in many aspects of his life. what a scumbag

Grand larceny, medicaid fraud, etc.

turns out he was arrested in 2010 also. Karma will find him, and it seems sooner rather than later.

I guess I may as well provide a car update as well.

In the past 6 months, the car has been regularly used with no issues. I've changed the oil (using Quaker State Euro 5w-40, which is essentially pennzoil platinum Euro), ran a bottle of BG440k fuel system cleaner through the tank, and replaced the front and rear flex disks with Eurospares items (they are the OE parts).

Otherwise the car has been great.
