Default Good news - our XJ8 new snows at Tire Rack

I am happy that I found these Michelin X-Ice Xi2 tires with a super low price at the Tirerack.com (one of the forum vendors).

It was the best price I could find after looking locally and on the internet. Not only that but they are giving us a $70 American Express reward card.

It is a promotion they have with Michelin. It runs from today (12/1) thru 12/31/10. You need to buy 4 tires to get the reward card.

Tire Rack also made arrangement for me with local tire retailer to install the tires also at a very reasonable cost.

Hi
Yes we have. These are great snow and ice tires. We had our share of rain since these tires were installed. They worked perfectly on the wet roads. We also had a little snow and lots of ice here during last night and today. These tires even held our rear wheel drive Jaguar steady in the middle of our steep icy shared driveway. This is a second set of these Michelin Ice tires we have purchased. The first set was 5 years ago. They were very good. But this new set (Xi2) is even better.

Thanks for the TireRack info. It was very helpful for my tire research.

Update.... We have had 1 bizzard (combination of sleet, then ice, then 22 inches of snow) just recently. Also another storm with 14 inches of snow. We seem to be in a weather pattern that gives a storm at least once a week. I am sure getting tired of removing all this snow. We have 2 driveways (one to the garage from the street and the other goes around to the front door then to the street).

These new tires have been great. Today we had another snow that ended at 11:00 this morning. It was 3 inches of wet slushy snow. I picked my granddaughter at 2:00 this afternoon and found their vertical 60 degree angle driveway had not been plowed.

It took me 2 tries before our XJ8 climbed all the way up this 100 foot driveway. I could have made it one the first if I had accelerated more at the bottom of the driveway.

Then going back down the driveway I was worried that the XJ8 might slide sideways on the way down. The tires gripped the drive without any sliding at all even though I was tapping the brakes at various intervals.

I am very happy with the way these tires are performing this winter.
