Default Hard reset door lock woe.

So I did a hard reset to zero out my fuel trims after a vacuum leak repair...

Now my rear doors will not lock, not even manually. The dash door lock button has not worked since I bought the car (I was getting around to that). The fob has always worked great. It still locks the front doors and trunk, and sets the alarm. If I open a rear door the alarm goes off.

Any insight? Thanks...

I am attaching a link to some of the problems relating to the door locks. It sounds as though you may have a relay sticking or a blown fuse that is just coincidental to the hard reset. With the interior button not working this info may solve it.
Another possibility is that the rear door lock mechanisms may need lubricating.

Thanks. I tried another hard reset; no change. If I press the fob once (unlock button) I can hear the front driver door unlock, then on the second press I can hear the actuators in the rear doors but since the locks are already up (unlocked) they don't move. When I hit the lock button on the fob the two front doors and trunk lock, and I hear the actuators in the rear doors but the don't lock. If I manually push them down they won't stay, they just pop right back up.

I found the small black relay in the LH heelboard for the locks, but that thing would not come out. I didn't want to force it, and I figure since I hear the actuators then the electrical side of things is working. But then I remember that the button on the console doesn't work, so that would seem electrical.

Sounds like actuator issues or something in the rear, but that seems strange that the problem coincides with the reset. My driver's door does the same thing, you can't physically lock the door, but the others work fine. Might be worth pulling the door card and seeing about disconnecting them to see if you can at least get them to manually lock, to try to narrow down if that's what's doing it.

Thanks, I will take the door cards off this week on my day off. The button in the dash started working after another reset, but despite the actuators working, the rear locks don't go down.

Three things that I'd consider...

1. Try locking/unlocking the car with the key only first

2. Disconnect the battery. With the battery disconnected, touch the 2 battery terminals together but, do not reconnect. Lock all 4 doors manually and maybe latch the trunk (as if it were being closed) with a screwdriver. Reconnect the battery and see if the locks operate properly with the key first and then the key fob.

3. If all else fails, starting with the drivers door panel, remove it and access the door ECU. Disconnect and reconnect it. Possibly all other door ECU's need to have that done as well. I've been down this path before and I think I only had to do the drivers door. Hope this helps.

I am curious whether or not you resolved your lock issue. If so, did the advice from Addicted2boost do the trick or did you overcome it a different way?

My doors are fine; but, I cannot get my trunk to open even though I can hear the actuator engaging when using either the FOB, the release button within the car, or the rear button on the trunk. I even attempted to use my key to open the trunk. My guess would be the internal latch itself which raises the question as to how do I get into the trunk since it will not open? Do I somehow remove the rear seat and then will have access to the trunk?

Hey,

Yes, I fixed the problem. One of the members on here sold me a couple of used rear door actuators. I swapped them out and everything has worked perfectly since...

On the trunk, the key really should work! They get gummed up from lack of use. Spray some lubricant into the key hole and let it soak, then try the key again.

Try to disconnect the battery or call for local automotive locksmith

Doberman_Fan, removing the back seat will not allow access to the trunk. The fuel tank is behind a metal bulkhead behind the seat.
You will need to access the trunk mechanism by making a hole behind the license plate. Remove the license plate and remove the inserts for the screws. Use a long thin screwdriver and flashlight thru the hole and trip the lock mechanism.
First keep trying to access it thru the key. Spray the key hole with something like WD-40 and keep working the key. If that doesn't work then try the methods in the below posted links.
