Harmonic Balancer Re-Install

Harmonic Balancer Re-Install
Hello All - I've spent a lot of time searching for info on this topic but still have some questions. I am putting my 2001 XJ8 back together after doing chains and tensioners, and I've run into a bit of a snag getting the crank pulley back on and the bolt secure. My questions:
1.) should i work to get the pulley back to it's normal position on the crankshaft before tightening the bolt? (vs. using the bolt to push the pulley on) Mine gets mostly on but still sits about a quarter to half inch from the front chain cover. Should this go on easily by pressing or will i need to use the harmonic balancer installing tool?
2.) I'm locking the crankshaft via pry bar at the flywheel/torq converter, but am terrified of doing damage there when I apply the torq needed to tighten the bolt. Does anyone have a picture of where exactly to apply the pry bar to lock this down without doing damage.
3.) I've seen many suggestions of replacing the crankshaft pulley bolt, but can't find one. a.) it is necessary to replace? Mine looks like it's in good shape. b.) anyone have a part number for the bolt (could not find on my parts list at Gaudin and my local dealer didn't have one and doesn't share part numbers)
As always thanks to all... you guys are saviors.

1) Just slide it on, let the bolt do the rest of the work- it requires a gazillion pounds of force, so it WILL go all the way on.
2) No way to guarantee you will not damage it- see if you can find pictures to see what you are doing. I used a flat 12 inch crow bar- do so at your own risk.
3) Buy a new bolt and washer- the bolt comes with pink locktite, and I am sure there is a good reason Jaguar recommends replacing.
