Has anyone mounted Dayton wires on their X308?
I know bolt-on wires are controversial, but I think wires look great on the XJS and 80's-era XJ6 models. I think wires would look just fine on the low-and-lean-looking X300 and X308 models, too.
I have a line on a set of Dayton bolt-ons with Jaguar knockoffs, fresh out of the box, never used. I'm thinking of putting them on my 1998 XJ8. Has anyone done it? What tires did you use?
I ask, because X308s run 16" wheels, while earlier models--and the Daytons made for them--run on 15" wheels...so I have two choices....
...225/60 R15 wheels will have less height in the wheel well...bigger gap between tire and fender.
...235/60 R15 will fill the wheel well more nicely, and have a thicker tire around the rim, giving a more classic look, but all tires of this spec have raised white writing on them...I'll have to mount the tires inside out.
Has anyone solved this problem? Who has wires on an X308? What tires did you use, and can I see pics?
p.s. -- Dayton will happily make true wire wheels of whatever size you like, with adaptors and knockoffs of your choice, for your X308...cost runs around $3,000. They are backed up a bit, so last I checked it'll take about 10 weeks for delivery.

Was a common switch back in the late 90's for the XK8 -- my dealer always had them in stock. They typically installed the same 17" on the X300's -- that's what the XK's came with standard. Sort of faded out later in the decade -- when the X308 came out Jaguar had a few more wheel styles.
I got two sets of XK8 rims as new "take offs" ... the first became my summer set for the X300 .. the second was for my R's winter set.
Have you looked for used 17's ? ... they do rust .. so maybe most are killed at thing point.

Yes! I do know that 17"s are floating around in the market, but they're not personally my choice for an X308. The skinnier the tire compared to the wires, the sedan loses the classic retro look, and starts to take on a pimpmobile or donk look.
Skinnier tires gives a more modern/current look...I think that works fine for the sportier K-series. I'm trying to harken back to stately, elegant Jag saloons/sedans of yore....an X308 still has the classic low-and-lean lines of J sedans all through the 80's and 90's...so I am looking for a more traditional tire-thickness-to-wheel-diameter ratio.

Dayton web site
Sayhitobaldy,
Dayton Wire Wheel web site shows a 2001 Jaguar XJ8 on wires.
On the Home Page click on 'Gallery', then select 'British Cars', then scroll down.
Last entry in the British Car Gallery.
Data box shows '16 x 7 bolt ons'.
Having an X308 featured in their Gallery, I'll bet Dayton would be happy to share more details directly.
