Default Headbolt stuck in motor 4.0 v8 Jaguar

So guys here's a new question. Got all the bolts out for the drivers side head bolts but one of them. The one is the drivers side top front 13mm bolt. Not sure if the head stripped out or what. Got a new socket and it still wont work. It gets to that really hard place then the socket just spins and the bolt just wont budge.
Even after all this I still really like this car but the motor is giving me a headache as now that bolt wont come out. Can I heat it up with a torch or will that make it worse. Need help again and sorry guys for bugging you all about my Jag 4.0 motor

So the bolt is moving up to a point, then not budging ? If your socket is spinning on the bolt head it may have been damaged during attempted removal. Are you using hex sockets ?
You can try a bolt extractor socket which have got me out of trouble a couple of times, although it will toast the bolt head. Being only 10mm bolts the bolt head may snap off completely, whereupon you can remove the head with the bolt shank still in place and work on removing it then.

good luck !

I drilled one out on a head where the bolt was rounded (CAREFULLY) They are not that robust once you put the drill on them. Make sure not to go past the bolt into the head though.

Make sure you are using 6 point thin wall impact sockets to avoid stripping the bolts and or socket.

Both KD tools and craftsmen make excellent bolt extractors. And a shot of CRC freeze off will probably release the bolt. .

x2 for Freeze Off or, if you can find it, Loctite Freeze & Release.

If you want a really tight fit you can force a 6 point 1/2" socket onto the bolt.
It will fit tighter than a 13mm.

Sometimes it will grip the rounded hex if it is not too far gone.

Got them all out finally after using a snap on 13mm extractor. Wow really like those little things and had to do it on most of them on the other side of the motor head. Thank You all for the help. Now off to try to afford to get the heads done and a new timing chain soon I hope!

Default headbolt

Are you going to replace the headbolts because I think they are single use. Somebody wiser might clarify this, and where to get them from.

Check pricing on Land Rover, Lincoln and Jaguar headbolts and go with the cheapest out of the three, same bolts different bags. DO NOT reuse them, torque to yield. Some manufacturers allow one reuse and stake the bolt head so the next guy knows to discard them, personally I replace them as a rule regardless of situation or manufacturer recommendation

Yes I will replace the headbolts./ Think I will use the Lincoln LS bolts though as they are much less and I can not afford the jaguar bolts. I used a headbolt extractor and was so glad a friend loaned me his set. got them out and heads are at the head shop now being checked and repaired if needed. Thanks all for your help.

Question though will the torque of the lincoln LS bolts the same as the Jaguar? just wondering. I can get a set off ebay for like 33.00 as the jaguar bolts are like 30.00 each.

Yep, use the Jaguar 3 stage torque sequence and you're good to go.
