Default Headlight lens polishing or replace

I was curious if anybody knows how to, or if you can polish the glass lenses on the headlights. It seems that all four lenses on my 8 have small scratches and very small chips, making the headlights appear hazy. Is there a way to polish them out like plastic headlights, or am I looking to replace them?

give a quick search on here, there was a good post from someone (sorry can't remember) who polished his up with this special kit. Definately, worth doing. I know Meguiars makes a lens polish/refurbisher too...see it in the auto parts store all the time with the machine buffer chemicals.

There is also a really good kit I found for my Mustang Cobra I have. I found it on a website for detailers. Not sure about posting nonsponsored links but it was a Wolfgang product. It worked really well for a while. Unfortunately the plastic just got too beat up.

Thanks for the replies. I know plastic lenses can be polished, we sell a "headlight restoration service" at work in which youwet-sand the oxidation off, then re-laminate the lense, but that is for the plastic headlights. I wasn't sure if there were any glass polishes out there, but I'll check soon.

For glass? That's the only question I have. Can the GLASS be polished, and if so, what do you recommend?

I have heardone of the glass techs talking to one ofour other mechanicsabout a headlight repair similar to your interest. They use some chemical that is applied to the surface of the glass then covered with a clear plastic film. With exposure to a portable UV light the chemical hardens and becomes a part of the glass and comes out smooth and almost makes the crack invisible, basically the same procedure used to repair small cracks in a windshield.

I just used regular plexiglass cleaner compound... And it works well, after that I went to the dealer and bought the clear head light covers(I've had 2 broken lens)!
