Heater is not warm

Heater is not warm
Is this just me, but my 98 XJ8 3.2 doesn't get very warm on these cold winter mornings.
It takes me 40 mins to drive to work, only then does the car seem to have warmed the inside up enough to be comfortable.
I set temp setting to "Hi", and leave aircon off.
I point the vents at my poor freezing hands.
I keep my coat on all the way.
Air Con is good though.
Are all Jags like this, or is it just mine?

Is your engine coming up to full operating temperature? If not you might need a new thermostat. Next, the system has an an electric pump to circulate hot coolant through the heater core. It might not be working. Expensive to replace but lots of guys simply open them up and replace the brushes on their own.
Others will chime in.
Ihave spoken with a number of X300/X308 owners who, like me, feel that the heater is a bit weak on these cars even when working properly. However, it shouldn't be as bad as you describe by any means

RE: Heater is not warm
Thankyou very much Doug.
I think I get to operating temp OK (after about 5 mins, it reaches halfway up the temp gauge and stays there for as long as you drive it).
Your comment about the pump sounds spot on, that would explain why it only gets gradually warmer as the coolant in the heater system is getting heated by contact, rather than by being flushed through with the rest of the coolant.
Once I know where this pump is, I might try to get one from a scrapyard I know.
I need to get one of these CDs first I guess.
Once again, thanks. Appreciate your help.
