Check figure 4.2 (at top left) of the elecrical diagram for your year, available here: http://www.captainjaguarscathouse.co...ec%20Guide.pdf

Trunk fuse #7 receives power from the fuel pump relay #4 (in trunk fuse box) and powers the fuel pump. This could certainly be an issue - so check to see if relay#4 is getting power on pin 3, the winding is being powered on pin 1, and the other side of the winding is being pullled to ground at pin 2 (at least for a few seconds when key is first turned to run).

If all three are there, but no 12V at pin 5, the relay is bad.

Pin 3 receives power from the Battery Power Bus - if it is missing, I'd suspect a lot of other things won't be working too - so I suspect it will be there.

If pin 1 does not have power, look at LH heel fuse box, fuse #16... figure 1.4, left center in the wiring diagram. It supplies power to the relay.

Pin 2 should go to ground for several seconds after turning the key to run - but will float high again until you start the car, where it will go low and stay there. This primes the fuel system, but doesn't run the pump continuously until the engine is started. If it never goes to ground, the ECM is not trying to turn the pump on, for some reason.

Trunk fuse #8 is for the center brake light and receives power from the Stop Lamp Relay #5 (in trunk fuse box) - this, obviously, is not an issue for your symptoms, but once you get the car running, you can check this one too. Figure 9.2, top center.

Thanks and you're welcome - I enjoy tracing out the component circuits in the wiring diagrams - does that make me strange?
