Hello all! So, the girl started. Rebuilt engine turns great. All worked fine yesterday. Today we drained the engine for the second time to fill it with the final oil. Ready to drive off the garage and..... Gearbox doesn't engage! Damn!!!!!!! It engaged fine (up lifted) yesterday. Gearbox was checked and A drum and discs were changed for safety. What can it possibly be???? Codes are P1000; P1722; P1260. I recon it's possibly a faulty harness? We are wondering if there's enough pressure in the box. Anyone with an idea of what to check? After almost six month of restoration we are really tired... All connections are clean. I don't think it to be an electrical problem. But who knows.... Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, it's a 2001 3.2 L version... We're really puzzled on why did it work and stopped... Is there a security switch that can disable the gearbox after we tried the car lifted? Since it caused ABS error messages...
Hmmmm....not sure about the 1260, that's a security module not being recognized in your key....try your other key...but a 1260 should create a no start condition.
The 1722 generally isn't good news, could be the A or B drum, but check screen shot...use that link I posted to you in the other thread for jagrepair.com, you can search P codes there ...here's one link to the trans.. JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource
So: Issue was the torque converter. It appears the trans fluid change created a mud slide and killed the converter. It's now changed for a rebuilt unit (supplied by Triozon in France). Car is reassembled but gearbox still doesn't engage! When we fill the trans fluid we see it doesn't get pumped. Could there be a blockage somewhere? Oil cooling unit clogged maybe? Or could there be an issue with the pump? The converter turns empty. Oil won't go up there. Did this happen to anyone? Thanks guys!!!
Funny fact is that there are no error codes. All works fine according to the OBD. We see no solenoid issue... But I'll change those anyways. Speed sensors are new by the way. Clutch drums were removed and all checked. A drum replaced for the enhanced version for safety.
When I had the transmission out of my 97 to replace the rear main sail I managed to break the drive for the transmission pump during replacement. I don't recall the exact details, but it was a simple alignment error.
Hi guys, still stuck... New torque converter won't pump the oil after multiple try. Has anyone had a oil pump failure? Is that something possible after the Torque converter broke since they are linked? I see no story about a bad gearbox oil pump so it looks like it's not a commun issue. Thanks !!!
