Update!!!! Its all better now! Brought to specialist with advanced obd software, connected old knock sensor after thoroughly drying connection cleared all codes and pending codes. No cel no restricted performance etc. Back running as new. So basically all that was done was connections were dried off and a more powerful scanner was needed to get into the system and sort it out. Now i have a spare knock sensor in the glove box and a super clean engine bay!! Thanks so much to all for the help and reassurance i hope this thread helps someone in future. JJ.

hey HAPPY TO HEAR YOU RESOLVED YOUR PROBLEM, i am now in he same mess, i just washed engine bay and of course p0332 code coming up.
ran her to warm up and waiting to see if heat dissipates water, and im gonna have to get water displacement electrical cleaner and clean up,
what connectors are the ones for the knock sensors on supercharged model? i see more than 15 there behind the throttle body, gonna have to go one at a time.
thanks for all help in advance!

James,
The knock sensors connect in front on each side, see attached photo. I just replaced mine while I had the super charger off.

awesome, yeah i just discovered it there under the part breather hose, i sprayed it down last night with electrical cleaner and plugged it back, went today plugged scan tool did not see any codes started her up, code p0332 came up after 2 mins of idling,
is it a good adea to run the engine with one disconnected till it heats up too see if without electricity to it it will help it dry out better, i sprayed moisture displacement down the engine to the area where this sensor is at, (center of supercarger and head. ) last night also, ill probably spray a little more electrical lubricant see if it helps a little. good luck to me!!! :S

I just used wd40 and an air line to blow out moisture. That seemed to be all was needed in the end just i had to get a specialist obd system to clear faults permanently. The cheaper scanners just dont cut the mustard im afraid. They can point you in the right direction but then you need the big guns!

I was cleaning my 01 xjr and decided (despite knowing better!) to powerwash the engine. IT was running at the time to make matters worse. I thought i was careful but now i have amber engine management light on and RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE message on the dash. I have dried off the engine, disconnected battery, removed coilpack covers, dried maf and dried moisture away but light remains.the car is starting and running as normal and there is no difference in power. IT did once display ENGINE STALL message then cut out initially but that has not reoccurred. IS this the start of a world of problems for me? Prior to washing the engine the car was always faultless. Please advise.
Makes it even worse when you know you shouldn't.
Two things should be banned from these cars....auto carwashes and power washing engine bays....tsssk, tsssk!
I'll leave others to offer comisserations and probably suggestions ;o)=)

Well turned out all mine needed was drying out. Months later, hasn't missed a beat. Xjrs are not n/a that was the problem with fitting knock sensors.
