Help Hood stuck on 1998 xj8 base sedan - RESOLVED
After installing timing chains, tensioners and everything else in the front of the engine yesterday it ran great.
Today I put the hood back on and closed it. But when I went to re-open it the passenger side will not release.
I checked the cables and made an access hole in the fender well to see the mechanism. I pushed and pulled every lever in there to no avail.
Could it possibly be a security lock on the bonnet/hood?
I ask this because a restricted performance showed up on the dash today as well.
Any suggestions?

Thanks plums
Good point...I have to laugh at myself. What happened is I connected both hydro struts before I tightened the hinges....so when I closed it the struts were pushing the hood towards the back .they were strong enough to hold it against the latch even after It had been tripped.
So when I looked at the latch from the bottom it looked fine.
So after going thru 19 different dimensions on what it was....I noticed the hood was out of line on the nose.....pryed it forward and POP.
And as far as the restricted performance ? It was because I had unplugged the mass air........Jeeeees I think I put to much nonstop mech.work on this cat the two pryer days.
