I'm changing the lock set, ignition barrel, glove box, boot, and drivers door. Got a set of three keys and new barrels.
The issue I'm semi aware of the the transponder in the key - what security issues am I likely to face, is it dealer programming etc to accept the new keys????
I don't know what the car will do once the new locks are in place.
Thanks for any help....

The car wont start when you swap out the ign barrel and use the other keys. Sooooo leave the ignition barrel taken down to the point of easy replacement, drive to the dealer, pull in and have them pop out the old barrel and stick in the new 1 and program the keys...take them all. All you need to remove is the column trim to access the barrel release. You push in the pin while turning the key to the release position and it slides out, slide the new 1 in and program. It wouldnt take 30 seconds to take the barrel out and new in without the trim,, so i would say i would only charge you to program the keys
Oh but then again since your another memebr that doesnt list the year of your XJ*, I assumed you have the earlier pre 04 that has the barrel on the column not in the dash

Thanks Brutal, once again you've done me proud, and showed a sixth sense about the car in question - I am now going to update my sig with the year - model and picture. Slapped wrist acknowledged! btw its a 2001 XJR ;-)
