Help is needed

hi everybody i pulled codes outta my reader and they say
p0174
p1165
p1175
im not sure what these codes are and my car is 1999 jag xj8 vanden plas i would most appreciate the help and im tying to locate the trans dipstick and trying to locate a right front shock absorber bc the rubber has somewhat shrank ! and 1 more thing when i put the car into gear the trans isnt hooking up properly its like its slipping then it engages hard with the wheels chirrping? so many thanks to those who can help ....as i bought the car cheap and i mean cheap.

If your Jag is the same as an X type there is no dipstick only a small opening on the top of the trans and a bolt on the side, if your car is level and your undo the bolt and liquid comes out it's full. But they are sealed transmissions according to the dealerships.

Do a google search for the codes and you'll find them.

There's a reason why you got it so cheap, I'm afraid. If I were you, I'd call around to all the independent shops in town and see if they have experience with jags, they're rather a unique bird and you'll want someone with their knowledge. good luck.
