Default Help with oil leak....

I have my 99 VDP naturally aspirated back on the road again (after engine rebuild and trans rebuild), however I am having trouble sealing up the cam covers. I put the cam covers on the first time and I put a little dab of sealant at the block to timing chain cover seam on both sides then torqued the bolts to the spec. I am still getting a pretty good leak at the seam. I tried taking it off and cleaning the seam good and tried a bigger dab of sealant and its still leaking. It is too much leaking for me to let it go and its leaking down on the alternator on the one side and the power steering pump on the other side.

If anyone has any tricks or tips as to what I can do to get these suckers to seal up would be great.

They were new seals, but I am willing to try new ones again. Do you suggest using the dab of sealant or just put the seal on without anything at the chain cover seam?
