Default Help!Rear hub and bearing replacement help needed.

Good day to all. As you may know from my previous post. I am doing my rear hub and bearing replacement and my car is on the lift.

My mechanic told me a special Jaguar tool was needed to press the new bearing into the new hub.

Any information or institutions, please
Thank you in advance
Vincent

I didn't use anything special. I have a cheap press from Harbor Freight that worked fine. I don't specifically remember what I did, but I think I either used a big socket, or a piece of pipe that fit perfectly on the bearing. Be darn sure you get the spacer and shim re-installed correctly. When you press it apart, pay attention to how the bevel on the spacer fits against the bevel on the hub, where the shim is, etc. You should be able to re-use the shim without doing the end play test that Jag recommends unless you are replacing the hub and/or housing, in which case the old shim may not give you the correct end play. The shims are available in different thicknesses, which is how you achieve the desired end play.

I replace the hub/wheel flange bearings with the hub mounted ON THE LOWER CONTROL ARM.

Remove the axle half shaft and then tilt the hub outward/vertical.

I use a transmission telescopic jack to use as a 'table' to drive the bearings out/in with a steel or brass drift.

Reuse all the original shims/spacer and some grease. Done!!
