Just a quick note to say thanks to everyone that has answered my questions and have posted detailed repair proceedures!

I love my 99 XJ8. It mows down freeway miles and cruises around town with style and grace. Because it's a car with 135,000 miles it's needed a bit of work but your help has been invaluable. As a result I've saved a ton of cash by being able to do the work myself.

Here's where it's going to cost me $$$$$.....

Now that I'm no longer afraid of the unknown I'm kind of on the hunt for an XK8 to add to the driveway. That will surely put a dent in my wallett!

Agree, this board is invaluable. I just did throttle body clean, MAS clean, cam cover gasket replacement and 2ndary tensioners on my XJR last weekend and it was "easy" because I had about 20 pages of this forum printed out in the garage with me.

I was also itching for another Jaguar, and I trully removed that itch (and the chance of having any free time in the next 20 years) by purchasing a V12 XJS :-)

Good luck with the XK8 search, I've seen some ridiculously cheap early cars around, so if you know what you're looking for, there must be some real barginas to be had.

 

Speaking of a barn find . . . I know of a '90 V12 XKS, 72k miles setting unloved in the Georgia mountains. An Atlanta car. Overall great condition for a 20 YO car, leather in very good shape. I took photos for someone that inquired but no follow through.

I have no interest other than trying to find a good home for a little orphan.
