hop to the right?
Hi all,
Owned the car for a week, 200 miles since it became mine. i've noticed that when traveling 20 - 40, coasting and when maintaining speed - when i run over a manhole cover or ridge in the road the back right rear seems to hop to the right. the left side doesn't do this. i have new eagle GT's with the 18 inch 7 spoke wheels - what do you think is the cause and what should be done, if anything, to correct the issue? When i drive on the highway - and in city streets, the car drives straight. when breaking - its also dead on and doesn't pull either way. seems to be on the bumps only and right side.
thanks in advance for any thoughts

HI,
How many mles are on it? Does it seem like it has a wiggle to it going over bumps, to one side or the other, an yet doesnt require no correcting action from u at the wheel, well I happened across this forum earlier https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...-wiggle-44607/ hope this helps.

Sounds just like mine. Jack the wheel up and check for any freeplay. I never found any until it fsiled though. Also look at the pivot bearing area, specifically, is the gap between the hub carier and the swingarm the same, at the front an back of the carrier. Poorly explained perhaps, bit I noticed my hub carrier was obviously forward of where it shoukd be prior to the failure.
Good luck!
Good luck!

hi all - 54K miles on this one, clean history, inspected and not a piece of bondo on this car - so it's not a collision related issue. When i drive strait, 25 mph and go over the manhole cover (right wheels traveling over the middle of the manhole) the right rear does jump to the right. i don't have to make a steering correction as it's low speed and i have the left wheels to keep it tracking straight. when i drive over the bumps on the left side, no issues. Seems odd which is why I'm asking for feedback.
I think I'm going to do a deeper inspection over the weekend and perhaps pull a wheel to see what i find. thanks AVT for the pointer.

My jag is at the other end of the scale. 217000 km, no history at all. I knew what I was getting into though. This all ties into the "how much did you pay for your Jag" thread!
I doubt yours would be as worn as mine (assuming it's the same issue). Luckily, the parts seem inexpensive, although the labour could add up if you took it to a shop.
BTW, your thread title reminds me of a tune from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, I can't help it.
