How do you open the boot of a Jaguar XJ8 with disconnected battery?

Welcome to the forums. In the future you want the X308 forum.
There is a key slot between the X and J. It may be frozen due to lack of use in which case repeated dosing with penetrating oil and trying to turn the key should free it up.
Or, open the bonnet and locate one of the fuse boxes which will have a positive post you can connect with a jumper cable or battery charger. But don't try to start the engine that way.
