I remember days like those with open highways on the outskirts of nyc, lol, now we have speed cameras. That ship has sailed, never to be seen again...

 

Yeah, the LIE is full of patrolman and the 27 is so rough (haven't driven it in about 5 yrs), your lucky to get up to the speed limit or you run into the next small town. Though the Cross Sound Ferry is a nice ride for going "0".
You can run up the Palisades on occasion or down the Garden State before Tom's River.
