Can you not rebuild the engine and get new catalytic converters to meet emissions? I know diesels are a bit more controversial though.

About 93k on my XJR, hardly run in really, but that's unlikely to change as it's taken 5 years to get that far from the 77k it had when I got it.

My 2002 XJR had 38,000 when I bought it three years ago. It now has 40,200. I have replaced the headliner, both fuel pumps, the D/S heated O2 sensor, and all four shock donuts (In addition to all engine fluids). Seems like about 1000 of those miles has been running through the emissions system reset profiles. I'm paranoid about taking it more than 50 miles from the house.... I trust the old '64 E-type more. Sure looks pretty though.

Just rolled over 114,000 in my 2002 base model. I bought it 4 years ago with just over 100,000 and immediately did a trans fluid and filter swap. It's currently running rich and idling rough, so needs a bit more TLC but I believe the engine and trans will be strong beyond the useful life of the interior and plastic bits and bobs.
