4.2% of the original $68,500 sticker to get the car w/101K miles.
another 2800. to take care of the issues (still throwing a P0455 code...replaced the gas cap...still getting the code...so, guess it is up on the lift for me to check the plumbing underneath...) that were pending. Has pretty new Michelins, need to get the body work sorted (right rear wheel arch at the door is bubbling...have the replacement part to splice in...).

Can't beat that with a stick (oh, yeah, previous owner roached the engine...so there's a 2003 mill in there with about 35K on it...and did the tranny at the same time...).

~8% - 12% if you include initial repairs.

'02 XJR with 107,000. I paid $6000 for it, plus 3500 (ah!) for preventative tensioners, water pump, and thermostat, along with new rear rotors and pads, some coolant hoses, and an extra key FOB.

The member with the dark gray '01 XJR for 8800 w/repairs has my vote so far (family member deals excluded

$9600 including tags and title on 63000 mile XJ8L. Plus $2500 parts and labor (my labor was free) to bring it up to spec on ~$70,000 list. 17%

But the key point really is -- there is nothing else out there for the money that is as refined as this car.

$7,400 for 2003 VDP with 64k miles. Dealer gave 30 day warranty on engine and power train and warranted ABS issue. ABS didn't go away so he fixed at his expense - it was left front speed sensor (I figured it would be ABS module solder joint issue).

It then developed restricted performance and threw code p0175 and p0172 - it was running lean. So I cleaned the MAF and that resolved that.

Interior is flawless and paint is almost so - just a couple of flakes on front and rear bumper that need touching up.

Question on tensioner issue - since it's 2003, does car have 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation tensioner?

$3300 for a 98 XJ8 with 75,000 Miles. 6% of the Original Sticker price.
Expenses to date (including 2 tires and battery) has brought the total cost to $6435.

It still turns heads here in Florida, unlike the new aero-egg sedans you see everywhere.

I paid $3,400 but I had some work to do, nothing major as I did drive it home. But I am the second owner, once the first owner started using this as his secondary car maintenance basically stopped.

Default 2007 xk

We bought our 2007 XK Convertible, fully loaded, with 19,000 miles on it for $27,500. Window sticker in glove box was $87,XXX. Can't remember exactly. It was right in line with what others with similar mileage we're going for.

About 10% of the original sticker price of $72,000. An additional 7% to bring her up to snuff. Still in progress. By the way, 02 XJR.

1999 Vanden Plas Supercharged with 83,000 miles - Sales price plus an initial repair (replacing a cracked timing cover and also did the timing chain and tensioners while they were in there) for 15% of the original $85,000 MSRP. Or if you include inflation, about 10% of the original cost in 2014 dollars.

Unbelievable.

Before I decided to go the used Jaguar route I was actually looking at used minivans with similar mileage in this price range.

Even more astounding is that I think there are even better deals to be had in XJ8 land, but I had my heart set on finding a green Vanden Plas Supercharged or Super V8. So when this emerald metallic beauty in great shape popped up, I jumped on it.

I paid $8000.00 for a fully optioned 2002 Vanden Plas and drove it 5 years with NO repairs or restoration needed. I redid the front seats so the whole interior looked new, cost $300 labor and I bought a low mileage rear seat to get original leather, $200. Sold the car this spring for almost $7000. It was like owning the car for free! Brandon

Here the cars cost much more because of high taxes. I have never calculated money spent but in three years mods/repairs including parts and labor a lot of money....maybe €35K = $45K ) and needs again engine rebuild because of some drag race based issues...Fun but quite expensive.

Default 2.7% of MSRP

if my math is correct, I paid about 2.7% of MSRP for my 1999 XJ8. $800 for the original purchase and another $700 or so in miscellaneous parts and repairs, so $1500 total for a car that base priced at 55,200. But she's "check engine" light free and a perfect highway car now, with 143k miles on her.

Best money I ever spent

I'm about 13% of MSRP - ~$78,900 new, paid $10,000 even since it has 44k miles, and 2 owners. MINT car. Already had 100,000 mi service completed at dealer. Very happy with my 3rd supercharged Jag.

Default Xkr 2001 87000 miles

2 months ago I paid $3500 for the2001 XKR. it drove home but was less than perfect. Lots of error messages and the engine would bog down on acceleration. Top does not work. Tyres were shot. Now runs better and has new tyres. Still think it was a bargain. Looks good.

2005 XKR $88000 paid $15500 plus another $2500 extended warranty. So I'm at 15.8% not bad at all for one of the best GTs ever made!

Default 1999 Jaguar VDP

Hi, I paid only 5% of the new price! Still only 84K miles and all major mechanicals have been done including the tensioners. Hopefully my luck lasts!
