How much did you pay for your Jag? (fun survey - % of value when new)

$12000 US for my 2004 XJ8 with 56000 miles, purchased in mid-December 2014. The dealer asked $13K and came down to $12K. In my area (northern Illinois) that's a bit on the high side, with the range between 10 and 13 for a low miles XJ8. Given its condition, I thought it was fair but not exactly a bargain. It's a base model, so the sticker price in 2004 was probably $65,000.
(Actually, this question doesn't pertain to X350's, is it? Sorry!)

1998 XJ8 Vanden Plas
With 79K miles - I paid just under 10% of the MSRP at $88,000. A wonderful vehicle - nearly pristine when I bought it 3 years ago... still excellent (the sand that the Colo Highway Dept put on the roads pits the frontend and windshield a touch - not complaining, much nicer than salt). I do have a wiring question that deals with a white/blue wire coming through the backseat firewall... mine disconnected when I was putzing about in the trunk - cannot find any diagram on it?

'03 XJR, paid $9,995 for it today, with just over 100k miles on it. I realize it's probably a tad more than book on it, but it looks to be in very good shape, no dents, dings, or rust, and includes a 2 year/24000 mile bumper to bumper. So I figure if I can't shake any issues out of it in that time, then it's bound to hold up a lot longer.

According to MSRP + sales tax, I bought my '02 VDP at a mere 6% of its value new + add another 2% for repair costs to make it like-new again.
So basically, I paid just 8% of what the first owner paid 9-years ago for the exact same experience, but in exchange for 92% depreciation, mine required about a month of TLC...
How about everyone else?

My Cheap 2001 XKR convertible
I Paid $3500 for my beat up 2001 XKR. It drove home!
After repair parts and replacements Total cost of the car was $5000. I have no idea of the new cost of the car.
Some of the repairs.
Both front suspension tops.
New tires all round.
1 replacement wheel
4 hydraulic top pipes.
Power steering pump used.
Repair track control module.
Replace transmission selector top.
Replace both horns.
Repair convertible top frame.
Long hours but worth it.

Paid my best friend $4000 two years ago. $4000 for tranny work for A-Drum replacment 3 weeks after driving it home. $2000 for the same repair last month and used a better part this time and also got a 3 yr warranty on labor. Let's see... what does this add up to? Oh! I had to replace windshield when I busted it fooling around with the old rear view mirror... about $225 for glass and mirror. This done soon after purchase.
I have this car listed on CL now.

2 -1995 XJS 4.0 convertibles, one 4 years ago for $2300 that needed tires and a complete service after I drove it home. I don't drive in the winter. The other last year for $1300, It had been sitting for 3 yrs, previous original owner didn't believe in normal care and maintenance, but at least, It runs, has brand new tires, but needs a lot of catching up to do.

'99 XJ8 and 2000 Vanden Plas
My '99 XJ8 Base had 33K miles and was in near-mint condition when purchased from a dealer for $8700 (about 14% of MSRP) in 2011. The only repairs required were the electrochromatic mirror (about $100 to refurbish) and the antenna mast ($70 incl. labor). Since then, it has needed a new door lock & actuator for one door ($450), a new brake switch ($200), and new tires ($400, General AltiMax HP). I also upgraded to low-dust ceramic brake pads all around and new front rotors ($600 total), and had some minor dents & scrapes touched up ($200). More recently, with 55K miles, it needed a new fuel pump ($600), a battery ($150 with 25% coupon at PepBoys for a Bosch Platinum AGM), a new oilpan gasket ($170), and a master cylinder cap ($50).
I just sold that XJ8 for $5K to a good friend, who sold me his own 2000 Vanden Plas that had 110K for $3K (about 4% of MSRP). He wanted the same XJ8 with fewer miles and a shorter wheelbase (and to be rid of the worry of an aging Jag that had its share of repairs, incl a new steering rack and cooling system). As for me, I wanted a smoother-riding, more spacious and luxurious version, even if it ends up needing more work. For now, the $2K I made has covered upgrades like new Pirelli Cinturato C7 tires ($600), a new front windshield ($230), new shock bushings ($200), Bosch platinum spark plugs ($175), a new AGM battery ($180), an extra key ($150), as well as a brake fluid flush & refill ($150).
I also upgraded to Mobil 1 High Mileage sythetic with a Purolator PureOne filter, and put in Philips UltraVision bulbs (with a claimed 60% further reach) for the low beams. It may just need a couple more fluid changes of coolant and transmission to be almost fully rejuvenated -- except maybe for the drive chain tensioners. Also want to eliminate the intermittent "ASC & TRAC CONTROL NOT AVAIL" and ABS dash warnings, which I gather are mainly a nuisance, possibly due to poor wheel speed sensor contact or loose solder joints. (Anyone with experience fixing that?)
