Default How to remove the intake manifold and replace the heater hoses (with photos)

I recently had to remove the intake manifold on a 4.0 liter V8 to change the cooling hoses that run from below it. I took photos and wrote the procedure for anybody who wants to do it.

Here is the link: jaghelp.com: How to remove the intake manifold and replace the heater hoses of your Jaguar XJ 4.0 liter

Any questions, please comment!

Default What hoses connect where on reassembly?

Thanks a million. Could never have done this without the forum. I'm in final reassembly, and I have forgotten what goes where on a couple of items.
  1. What hose connects to the larger pipe on the rear of the throttle (top picture, circled in yellow).
  2. What hoses connect to the two smaller pipes (red and pink)? My guess is that the pink one connects to the hose going to the plastic T fitting on the end of the Octopus hose, and the red one connects to the metal stub (lower photo, circled in yellow) alongside the mounting bracket for the throttle elbow.

Thank you for your help. I now know not to trust that I will remember where things went when the time for reassembly comes!

Default Where does this hose connect from throttle elbow?

Trying to put car back together after intake manifold removal. Last mystery hose -- connects to stub on throttle elbow labeled "Fuel Tank Vacuum and Pressure Relief Valve Connection" in drawing below:

Actual photo is below (elbow is upside down). Hose is about 18 inches long, looks about 1/4 inch, black soft rubber with white stripe. What does it connect to on the other end???: THANK YOU!

I’m pretty sure it goes to the vapor canister purge on the firewall.

Thank you thank you thank you! I think that was the last mystery connection -- now for reassembly. I am in Naples -- if you are nearby, I'm always happy to help! (and learn)

Default Throttle Hose repair procedure from jaghelp.com

The link seems to be broken, but when I did the repair I printed a pdf of the instructions (which are excellent! Thank you jaghelp! I take no credit of course) which I have attached. I hope it helps -- it did help me! Good Luck, and Bon Courage!

You must remove the intake manifold, there is no other way around it.
