How to replace bulb on Interior Central Roof?
1999 XJ8 LWB
There are 2 lights located on either side of the interior roof ,just above the driver and front passenger headrests area on the roof....there seems to be a bulb pointing forward and rear from this courtesy light .. i cant locate in the Manual how to replcae the bulb in it? Should i just let loose with a screw driver and pop it?
They dont light up when the doors are open so i suppose the lights are blown and need replacement.
Instruction appeciated
best regards
Peter.

Must be after-market lights.
Roof/interior lights on X308 are in the overhead console and on the "D" pillar

Hi
Note: to viewing any of these Dropbox.com files clearly you will have to click on the image after going to the webpage.
I am pretty sure that it is the Overhead Console lights information being requested- Here is the information from the 2000 XJ Owners (Drivers) Handbook:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yuh4vnytva...g%20Lights.jpg
I took a snipe (screen shot) of the Overhead (Roof) Console Map and Interior Light assembly from the 2000 XJ Vehicle Care Handbook.
I added the Bulb Part numbers and Descriptions to the screen shot:

Also here are 2 PDF files that were created by extracting the Overhead Console repair procedures from JTIS shop repair manual (Map & Interior Lights):

Hmm..well i have included a photo of the supposed "light", but now im thinking this may be the alarm sensor as you fellas dont seem to know the item im referring to. see photo.
Is it a light..should i let oloose with a screw driver and try to open it.. i even have a welder if need be .. just let me know im ready to go on this!!!..... or is it an alarm sensor?
Im surprised that Jim shows the front courtesy light requiring a battery disconnect from JTIS...is that necessary as i do have a light there to change.
best regards
Peter

Hi
I finally found a photo on Ebay that shows 1999 Sovereign LWB inside view of area above the front seats:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wcxk0m9c4f...or%20Photo.JPG
It sure looks like the Long Wheel Base Sovereign has these things above the front seat headrests.
Here are 2 other photo showing Intrusion Sensor that looks like the roof thing above the front seat headrests.
This one is on Ebay UK website and it is XJ8 Daimler X308:

The Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog shows the Intrusion Sensors for vehicles with sunroof is available in 2 different colors - Nimbus Grey (part# LNA2630DBLFJ) or Oatmeal (part# LNA2630DBAGD). It is also available for vehicles that do not have a sunroof - Nimbus Grey (part# LNA2630CBLFJ or Oatmeal (part# LNA2630CBAGD).
This other one is on Ebay Ireland website and it is X300:

Well I think we both agree that they are Intrusion Sensors.
We have 2001 XJ8 US model and it has 2 side inpact sensors (1 in each side) in the B pillar (inside the lower section of the pillar where the front seat belt is stored).
Deployment of each side airbag is initiated by a side impact sensing module (SISM) installed in the adjacent 'B' post. Each SISM senses and electronically processes a crash pulse and if this exceeds the 'must fire' threshold, transmits a fire signal to the SPS unit.
There is also a single point sensing unit (SPS also called the inclination sensor) mounted on the transmission tunnel, below the radio, provides fully electronic impact sensing, control and diagnostics for the front airbags.
The SPS unit monitors whole vehicle motion and on confirmation of a crash condition, transmits a firing current pulse to the appropriate airbags.
In the event of a side only impact, the SPS will send a current pulse to the airbag on the struck only. Neither the non-struck side airbag nor the frontal restraint system will be deployed under these conditions.
The airbag system can only be activated when the ignition switch is in position II or III.
I just copied the whole written instructions from the JTIS manual.
It is interesting stuff.
