For a few weeks now I been getting a lot of air rushing into the gas tank when I take off the gas cap. Now, for a couple of days, I been hearing a popping noise from the rear and today I notice it came from behind the rear seat. I got out and open the gas cap and I heard the tank pop, the good is I found the source of the noise, the bad is it coming from the tank.
I know the tank is vented, but where is ventilation system located, it is that black box locate in front of the passenger side rear tire or someplace else? I am not at home, so I can't access the service manual.
I thinking it start just after I replaced the exhaust and I think I disconnected the wire harness to it, to remove that one muffler. But, I am not 100% sure if I re-connected.
Any advice, guidance, fix will be helpful.
Thanks,
Steven.

This (from your section HOW-TOs) explains how the system works

It seems the critical part is the vacuum operated valve by the charcoal canister.
If that doesn't open your tank doesn't vent.
I don't know if your emissions management system will let you get away with it but leaving the filler cap loose until you get home will stop you collapsing the tank.

Ok, check the plug last night, it was connected. Leading to that not the problem, all hoses are connected.
It there anything else I should investigate.
I did leave the gas cap loose and she running much much smoother. I guess it was putting a strain on the fuel pumps, because I no longer hear a humming nor a very fast click noise at idle.
