Default I think my cat is expecting!!

Well,...looks like the S430 is going to go bye-bye, and my cat will have a ferocious kitten next week! 2000 XJR w 113K is trying to join the family. I can't wait. Now just one small problem remains,......how to convince the wifey that the VDP is MUCH BETTER for her,....more legroom, longer, more comfort over the bumps, better on gas,.....am I forgeting something?

Please help!

Forget the practical arguments. Be sneaky and appeal to her vanity.

Tell her how much more admiring attention she'll draw in it.

Why not let her choose? If she chooses the VDP then your golden. If not you can easily create some reliablity concerns by introducing some check engine warnings - at 113k they may introduce themselves anyway

what is color of VDP? i would also let her chose, she might pick the car you already own anyway and for me for example is only real difference between those (power) less important then color or interior trim :-)

Legroom is usually irrelevant to female drivers as they don't need as much. However, if there are kids involved, they would appreciate it.

As for comfort ... pump the tires up on the XJR to 38 psi before bringing it home. If she picks the XJR, say nothing and wait.

As to reliability .. if she picks the XJR .. randomly pull a fuse or two when she's not looking.

And finally, umm.. the VDP is much more suited to the Diamond Earrings that you are about to give her?

Oh, and get the VDP detailed to within an inch of its life beforehand.

VDP is Topaz (gold) with Ivory interior. XJR is silver with Ivory (I would prefer black, but....). She likes my VDP, and drives it every chance she gets. I think she will "adopt" the big cat, and I'll end up with a little beast.

I am car freak (for a girl) and as long as the comfort/power/image is not day and night difference (like trading Passat for a Jag) i would never do it. I think you are safe :-).
Besides, most women like real men, just tell her what she will drive and when not sure, ask your self, what would James Bond do?
To apply it to your case: would James Bond let her (weekly) woman pick a car and drive with whats left?

Sandy,.....there is NO doubt she will drive what she gets. My post was nothing but a feeble attempt at humor. After 20+ years in the uniform, NO woman tells me what to do (maybe that's why this is my fourth marriage?)

And BTW, if you run into my ex wife in Munich, say "hi" for me!

If you ever happen to be in Milan, .....well there is one over there too. And another one in Monaco. But looks like I'm done with imports for now. Fourth one is American, and we just celebrated our first anniversary yesterday. I still can't drive American cars though (except my H1, which I adore).

You girls are all the same,....you want a strong man to tell you what to do and be in charge,....well in my case this lasts about 7-8 years, and then they start to rebel. As I am not flexible, and too old to change,......I change them, and start over!

Nice "talking" to you BTW. I wish you MANY happy miles in your Jag, and a strong man that will shake your world to the core!
