The Idle on my xjr desides to get faster at slow speeds.

It is like my car has a mind of it's own.

I'll be driving and the idle is normal and all of a sudden it is like it wants to take off. At stop lights it's hard to hold it back. I can drive it at 30 without touching the gas. At times it will go into limp mode. I'll turn the car off and restart and it will sometimes reset. It seems that it only happens in the hot months. I do get warning lights but not codes. Anyone have any ideas?

Well technically your car does have a mind of its own, the ECU.

Anyway, my XJ6 does the same thing sometimes. I usually tap on the accelerator and it comes back down. You might have a sticky throttle body that isnt going all the way close when you let off the gas. Hope this helps.

Sheeno, it sounds like to me that you are having a sticking throttlebody. If you look at the auto parts store, they sell some throttle body cleaner. You can pull off the intake and squirt down the throttlebody. Make sure to move the plate so you can get inside of the throttlebody too. Also note, the first time you start the car after this, it may be hard to start since the car will be essentially "flooded". Give it a little bit extra to crank over and it will start.
