Default Impressed!

While I have no intentions of replacing my XK8, I have to say you XJ(X308) owners have got a great driving vehicle! This past week I have been in a loaner 2003 XJ8 in BRG w tan interior while the XK gets some warranty work done on her recent transmission rebuild.

Although I have lovingly called her a proper British land yacht, acceleration and handling are superb - very smooth and quiet ride.

If I were looking for or in need of a 4 door - this would certainly top my list.

That's precisely why I just acquired a 97 XJR (X300.. close enough to the 308) to go along with my XK8.. I couldn't have just one!

Ok. Now see if you can borrow a XJR of the same year.

I agree - I drove an XJR for the first time last weekend, and was blown away at how fast they are compared to the '8.

going to have to find one to drive - just to see. Since I do need a second vehicle - this could easily fit the bill!!!

In my opinion XJR is a beast and a limousine in the same time.
I like mine very much. I like big cars with petrol engine and automatic transmission.
I bought this car last year in October, i want to keep her for a long time at least 10 years. At this moment is hard to tell you if you ask me what kind of car i will by after XJR. A Bentlay maybe or a Mercedes 63 AMG or a CLS AMG.
In my opinion old car are easy to maintain, a lot of information, cheaper parts.

XKR is another beautiful car but i would like one as a second car. I use my XJR daily.

Haha, I personally was shopping for an XJ8, namely for keeping to a budget, but after test driving an XJR after several nice XJ8's I could not settle for an XJ8, hence I stretched the budget a bit and purchased an XJR and could not be happier!

I am guessing you didn't have to stretch the budget very much: what is the difference in price between same year XJs and XJRs? Maybe a grand or two?

Well in New York, XJ8's are a dime a dozen, XJR's on the other hand, not so much. The two XJR that I was looking out were both in Jersey, and the car I had really wanted was all the way out in Utah. That said an XJ8 in the trip state area averages about $3000-$3500. A similarly aged and used XJR was/is at least twice that.
