Default Infamous Nikasil - Really Quick Question

Would an MFD 12/00 (December 2000), model year 2001 VDP have the Nikasil or Alusil liner?
Thanks!

It's probably Nikasil liners BUT I can tell you that my car is a MY 2000, original Nikasil motor, has 107K miles on it and is as sweet as a nut. Did a 200 mile run today, a mix of London urban and motorways up to speeds of about 110mph and returned 25.4 mpg overall. So if yours runs strong with no loss of compression then it will be a good 'un in all probability and will last for years if you do regular oil changes.

For anyone not "in the know" the problem with Nickasil plated bores was with high sulphur petrols. This stuff gradually eroded the plating resulting in excessive oil consumption. If the car was never run on high sulphur petrol, the plating will not be eroded. Other cars, typically Porche, have Nickasil plated bores. Jaguar stopped using Nickasil plating around year 2000 and went back to liners. When the engine is hot and idling, carefully lift off the oil filler cap slightly. If a big 'wind' comes out, the plating is damaged.
