Try doing a hard reset. The seat has a control unit under the front of the seat. Since all you did was replace the battery, try that first. Disconnect the ground lead (-) at the battery and touch it to the positive for about five seconds. That will discharge any capacitors in the seat control unit and then reconnect the ground cable to the battery.
Did that help?

Are you saying that the seat won't move with the controls on the side of the seat or it just doesn't work automatically? If the latter, try moving the seat with the controls and set the preset position with the buttons on the armrest and see if that help. My 03 XJ8 is a bit quirky and sometimes stops automatically adjusting the seat bit it will start working again if I do what I just posted.
If it's the former, and if a hard reset doesn't work, it could be the control unit under the seat.

both exact recommendations and what I would do. and if neither work drop the modules from both front seats and plug in the pass seat module to the driver. If it works you need a new seat module(and programming or youll have a PECUS fail message) and it was coincidental with the battery replacement

not if you dont have a connection to the negative terminal on the battery. You dont have a complete circuit so no fireworks. But you do have a path to ground to discharge capacitors on the cars computers to erase volatile memory. This is just like rebooting you pc or laptop. Only a car does not have a restart or restore button.
