insurance coverage for jag

I currently have two xj8(s). One is a 2000 base/sport package. I use this one for getting around town and short trips yet i really don't put that much milage on it (maybe 3k miles on it last year) I have comprehensive and liability insurance on it ......I also have a bike and pick up...where most of my mileage in a given year accumulates.
My other jag is a 2000 as well but a long. This car is a one minus all day long and frankly it is lightly used (mostly Jag meets/Rally s locally) and not used in the winter at all.
I know that the car has not attained classic status at this point as it is only 14 years old. I am wondering if anyone knows if any of the company's that insure classics underwrite policies for younger cars, like my long and for a discounted rate.
I ask as when I had my 85 Jag when it got to be 20 years old I was getting a very reasonable rate/premium from a" classic insurer".
Any suggestions out there would be appreciated. Don't want to go for another thousand or so insurance on a car that isn't used very much....

I know the cut off for American Family Ins is 20 years. I carry their classic insurance on my '91 and it is unspeakably inexpensive. However, there are also pretty big usage limitations as well. I also had to get a professional appraisal. Well worth it, though, when the time comes that your car fits the limitations.
Cheers!

I have State Farm on my 2009 XJ-8 Portfolio, 49k miles, no tickets, no accidents, safe driving course. Retired and do not drive daily. SF is charging me $ 982 ever 6 months with a $500 deductible. My only vehicle. In the last 5 years the premiums have gone up $400 a year. Any suggestions? I live near Houston, TX in 77375.

With an impeccable driving and claims record, I’m paying C$1,414 to Economical for the ‘01 XJR for business and personal use and C$310 to Hagerty for the ‘92 Series 3 VDP with a declared value. Mileage and use restrictions preclude Hagerty being an option for the XJR.

01 XJR in NY state, I only have liability on it since its not worth enough to warrant paying for collision coverage, buy I have a half million in liability on my policy (its not my only car). At $216 per 6 months through GEICO, its actually my least expensive car to insure.
In my experience, the thing to do with insurance is shop the competition every 12-24 months. Call around, have your VIN and your DL number ready and actually talk to a person so you can get an accurate quote out of them...even better have your existing company and policy number handy and tell them you want an apples to apples comparison so you'll actually know real costs. Don't waste much time on the online quote thing on a carrier's website as they all to often do not give accurate quotes that take into account things like driving records or many discounts.

If you really want to consider it a classic car Hagerty is the only way to go. As posted up thread you want an "Agreed Value" policy. All the other insurance companies will treat it as a used car. Now go look at what used car prices are! Yea they will total your car for a minor fender bender.
One thing with Hagerty is they most of the time do have some driving restrictions like can't be used as a daily driver. So do check that depending on how you use the car.

Just got my renewal notice and it is now just under $1200 for 6 months. SF has raised their premiums almost 27% overall. Called the agent I have used for over 20 years and got a BS explanation of so many people moving to this area so more wrecks, thefts, etc.
Looks like Amica is the best to switch to at almost 33% less than SF.
