Default Interesting pictures of our engine

I recently took apart the original 120,000 mile engine of my lincoln ls after the engine threw a rod. This is a similar block and similar in most ways to our Jaguar 4.0 V8 engine.

I figured these pictures might be interesting to those who have never been inside of an engine this thoroughly

Thanks, looks like one, or even two rods have bits missing from them? What conditions come to cause this? Very cool.

Mind me asking about the parts availability and cost? Major internal parts seem a little scarce for the Jaguar brand.

this was actually for a lincoln LS so the engine wasn't too expensive because of the lincoln brand not being as high-end as Jaguar, but it was covered under comprehensive insurance. There were several holes in the block so a new engine was the only option, the engine was a used engine from a junkyard but I have a 3 year warranty through my insurance
