Default Interior color question

Hello all,

Im in Japan on business and the wife has given me a honeydew list on her 2002 VDP. Top of the list is to do something about the dirty seats. Frankly they need to be redyed. No biggie as Ive tackled the job before on my old lotus. I would like to order the dye so its waiting for me when I return but cant find what the stock color is called. Its a very light gray that compliments the white exterior. Any guesses? Can I call the dealer with the VIN and have them look it up. Couldnt find a website that lists stock colors.

Thanks,
Christian

There is a VIN label on the door or pillar with Paint Code and Trim Code (3 letter) You might have LFJ Nimbus Grey, but you need to quote the trim from the car door.

If the label isn't on the door (like mine wasn't) it may be where the bonnet hinges on the left side above the main beam light (where mine was). The paint and trim code is on there and is a 3 letter code.

FWIW...

I used the product from an ebay seller called "Seats Restore" and absolutely loved it. It did a fantastic job on my seats. Make sure to get some of his crack filler too. It fills and levels the cracks before you do the top coat.

Also get a couple extra applicators so you can do the job over a couple days.

Nice thing is the topcoat is not thin and watery. It's about the consistency of womens makeup and goes on real nice.

Take your time and don't plan on driving the car for a day or two. For example, I spent all day doing my driver seat. I would coat the seat and then go do some stuff around the house to let the product dry. Rushing any kind of refinish job is like rushing a woman. No good can come of it.

When I was done my Oatmeal color match was near perfect but they looked to new for me so I added a little patina by dusting the surface with a SEM spray can loaded with Ford "Sable" color. (It's close but not a match to the Jag Sable) It slightly tinted the seats a shade darker to match the 11 year old back seat that did not need to be refinished.

I did the work 2 months ago and I'm still thrilled with the results I got for less than $30.00. I've got plenty of material left over to do touch ups if I need going forward. So far it's not needed as the product is holding up well. Even if I have to do it over a couple times every year, I'll be way ahead of replacing my seat skins at $1200 for all.
