Default Interior lightning bulbs(again?)

Hello.
My 2000 xjr has couple bulbs blown from the centre console and driver door window switch panel is heating up. So I would like to replace all these bulbs at the same time. I saw that there is smaller wattage bulbs to the switch panel. I couldn't find comprehensive list of bulps anywhere. Car has heated front seats and heated windscreen too. Seats are memory seats.
So what bulb to where ?

I just bought 10 bulbs from autolumination.com. They are supposed to be the right ones for the overhead console garage and map lights. I'm hoping they are also the right ones for the door window switches. I have the door panel off and will find out this weekend. I will post what I find out.

The 4 overhead console garage, and the map and domelight (button) lights are DBC12493 (I think). But that is not available anywhere anymore. Will post how the autolumination bulbs I bought work.

Wow. Thanks a ton.

So I've gathered that for ac and other buttons there I need:
JLM1165 x2 For the display
JLM20308 x7 For the buttons
JLM20309 x2 Where ?

According attached TSB that says lower wattage bulbs were itroduced from VIN F11700 and as my car is 17xxx so I should have lower wattage bulbs allready installed. So the heating level should be normal then. Passenger switchpack bulb is blown anyhow.
Are LNC5180AA only socket with interchangeable bulb?

More questions but this is really messy thing. Having 11 browser tabs open just for interior bulbs..
It is always difficult with these these things when you can not acces to the car during winter.

I was not able to get the bulbs out of the driver's door switch pack without taking it apart. The bulbs I bought for the map and garage door buttons fit but I think they are too high in wattage. DBC6244 is the wrong part number for the drivers side switch pack.

I had an ordeal w/ bulbs earlier & the driver switch pack takes 2 different bulbs like posted above. One type for the windows, another for the memory buttons.

Driver 2 of each : DBC6244 & LNA518CA
This is what has been in my car since my ordeal.

Is your door switch pack different than mine?

According to this DBC6244 has an rectangular bottom. Maybe this illustration is wrong.

The two black ones light up the 4 window buttons. The two blue ones are for the memory buttons.

Mine's a 2000 base, I doubt there's any difference but who knows lol. I went through several Jag vendors recently trying to determine what type of fastener cam plate/receptacle I needed for my overhead console, none of the factory listed #'s were correct lol.

I'm confused King Charles. It says in your thread also that DBC6244 is the wrong bulb. What am I missing? Which bulb is which and how did you get DBC6244 with a completely different base to work with a round wedge type?

So are you saying you removed the bulb from DBC6244 and soldered it in the round base?

Vauxi,
You can hold off if you want. I have one apart already and have a few different types of bulbs on order. I have a extra switchpack and my drivers door apart already. This is what I have found out so far.

The bulbs I bought from Autolumination that were supposed to be for the overhead console where the wrong ones but do fit the drivers switchpack. They are Type B T4 Neowedge. The ones I got are clear and I attempted to take the blue cover off of the original bulbs but found out that this is not so easy. Because these bulbs get a little on the hotter side you can not always take them off in one piece as you can see in one of my pics. These bulbs may be perfect if they were the blue ones. They seemed to be about the right brightness and didn't get hot. I will be doing more testing on this.

It IS possible to remove the bulbs from a drivers switchpack without taking it apart. But it IS NOT easy. I used tweezers and dental tools and after 15 minutes of working at it I finally was able to get one out. The problem is that the blue caps and the grey rubber portion of the switch pack stick together. The bulb I managed to get out last night actually tore off a piece of the grey rubber on the way out.

I ordered both incandescent and LED bulbs to test. Will post what I find out.

Default Answer to 2001 White XJ8's Question:

Answer to 2001 White XJ8's Question:No. I found the right bulb. It's too hard to remove the old one and re-solder in a new one. The wires are too fragile. I don't recall (it's been a while), but I may have removed the blue covering from the bulb pictured and used it to cover a clear white replacement.

Thanks for answering that for us Kansas. You probably had the same problem I did with the blue covering on the original bulb. You have to be very careful removing them cause they are sort of melted to the bulb and sometime also adhered to the rubber portion of the switchpack. If the blue covering is damaged and doesn't cover the whole bulb it causes the blue light within the switchpack to not be uniform. My bulbs from Autolumination work if the cover is moved over without damage. I ordered some more bulbs from them that are the same except they are blue.

Last night I tested blue LEDs. They failed my test. IMO they are two bright, they don't provide an uniform blue inside the switchpack. Also, the dimmer control would not dim them all the way.
