Default Interior Wood

I know the woodgrain across the dash is supposed to be from a matching grain off the same tree, maybe the same is true through the entire car, not sure. Wondering if the steering wheels are wood as well or are they plastic...not sure how a wood wheel would work in crash safety?

AAm I correct in that from the factory, all of the wood inside, including the steering wheel and shift knob should have been color matched? My shoft knob is a different light color compared to my dash and the steering wheel is hopelessy mismatched so I'm wondering if its been replaced and if its posible to find the right color. AGD is my interior code, leather is oatmeal and I think the woodgrain is called antelope? Not sure what the wood actually is, like tree variety.

So, should the steering wheel and shifter match the dash? I took some photos but they're lousy with the flash at night so I'll try to grab some tomorrow.

The steering wheel section that looks like wood IS wood. The gear shift knob is also wood, but these knobs were not matched to the rest of the wood (in any Jaguars of the period) - they are almost always lighter in tone. There are, however, excellent quality dark walnut knobs available which are direct replacements for the original pieces.

Thanks! My car came to me with a very dark shift knob and a replacement shifter I bought had a much lighter knob on it, which is what I'm using now.

Seems crazy to me that on a $70k new car that bragged about matching pieces of wood grain in the trim, didn't match the steering wheel and shift knobs to the rest. Sounds like a good DIY project when I get some other stuff out of the way. I'll have to pick up some unmatched trim bits to practice on first maybe.

If you want someone else who may be able to sort out a match or close match, ask...

Saul is super nice, I believe mod Don B does business with him as well for his shop. The pic below is from him I have. The irony is, it was on eBay, I bought it,...and it wasn't until I opened the package and saw his card that I realized he was only about 20 minutes from me. I bought the knob because it looked close to my wood, so he didn't match make it, but I'm content with it...like I said, you can ask.
I went and visited him one time, he told me he could even personalize my dash woods with my initials.
