Default Isofix / LATCH child seat fixings in x308 - anyone got them?

Hi, I believe that Isofix/LATCH may have been available in late x308s but I'm struggling to find much searching online.

Can anyone confirm they have factory fixing points in their car and ideally post a picture of the arrangement?

Thanks!

Are you talking about the three attach points on the rear package tray?

To be honest, I've never even seen the X308 setup installed, but generally for each seat there are two lower loops, between the seat base and seat back and then an upper fastening point which will probably be in the rear package tray.

This is in a Volvo:

And this is an Audi

I don't need the upper mounts, so really interested in the lower bracket. Just need to determine if it exists, what it looks like and ideally a part number. Obviously if your car has the upper tether points the lower ones will be there too.

Thanks!

So the very scant information I can find. These appear to be the covers for the upper fastenings, on the package tray

This discussion is around installing them in an XK8
https://www.jaguarforum.com/threads/...1my-xk8.63904/

And recommends https://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.p...7/plate_anchor

Which looks like it may be one loop on a backing plate and therefore 4 off are required.

Here are typical brackets in an X type from someone doing a similar retrofit (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...system-128392/)

I basically need to find the parts to fit to my car, as my 1998 XJR doesn't have them and my 2003 XJ8 3.2 parts car doesn't either

My 2000 XJ8 has the uppers. I can’t find anything on the lower but there are two points for something in the rear ceiling above the package tray.

Thanks for that KipKnox. The ones in the headlinng are for sunshades/blinds. The package tray ones look like the isofix uppers I posted. Do you have anything you can feel in the gap between the seat base and seat back? Wouldnt make sense to have one without the other.

Thanks very much for checking for me.

I stuck my hand in between the seats but don’t feel anything. Maybe it attaches somehow to the lower seat belts? I will look in my manual.

Very odd indeed! They're often not visible, but pretty prominent if you're looking for them! Thanks!

This was all I saw in the owners manual. Maybe someone who has had a rear seat out will be able to help.

The kit (item 9) is listed by Jaguar Classic:

The Part Number and VIN ranges may help you make some progress.

Thanks both! Interesting, the except from the manual, and the fact that kit is available and contains the top point only suggests it was a different system.

Along with the fact that KipnKnox doesnt seem to have the lower bars suggests they werent fitted.

This text from a far newer 2017 model goes a little further (https://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/doc...roc/G1778792):

So it would appear the top tether in the X308, and the centre seat of the new XJ are for upper tethers for seats which use the seatbelt, whilst the outer seats in the new XJ have lower latch brackets.

Perhaps lower LATCH or isofix attachments just dont exist for the X308.

I went through the same analysis myself. I am convinced that the x308 does not have the lower LATCH brackets, which surprised me because the original 2002 manual specifically mentions a LATCH system. I suppose the reference could be exclusively to the top tethers on the package tray, but that is not what I think of when I read LATCH.

Good to have the conclusion corroborated, even if it wasn't the one we wanted!

Mine has isoflex attachments for the rear, one pair each side. You need to poke a finger between the seat back and the squab where the child seat fixings go and you will feel the horizontal bars to clop on.
It is a hard job yo prise the cushions apart sufficient to get the isoflex legs in but it can be done. Plastic guides might help.

I must be missing something. Why can't you just use the seat belt to secure the child seat?

You can, it just limits flexibility, seat choice and is a bit of a pain to fit and remove that's all. It's the way I went in the end and whilst workable, I'm very glad we went for a swivelling isofix seat in the mrs daily X5.

Hmmmm. Well, that is good to know. I have been out of that need for quite a while so it didn't compute.

Default As fitted to my 2002(3) X308

Black plastic guides for seat fixings (May be upside down but, after a struggle prising the cushions apart to fit, and as they work fine, I've left them as is.
