I've bought a parts car.
After many months of waffling, I finally broke down and bought a 98 VDP parts car. It apparently has 2 bent valves from tensioner failure. I'll get it towed home today, then I need to come up with a plan to tear it down efficiently, and scrap the body.
I may regret doing this, but I've been lucky in not needing too many parts so far. The point is to keep me in spare parts, not make money. The market for 308 parts in Canada is pretty slim I think.
I've made a spreadsheet listing all the pieces I can think of pulling, and it's almost 60 items long. Now where to store all those parts, that's a whole other question!

Only 60 pieces? There are probably dozens of electronic modules alone. All the exterior lights, door modules, seat modules, latch cables. Adds up really fast. Don't forget the fuseboxes, they are kind of delicate at the main feed stud.
A tip if you are going to store them in boxes: lay out everything that is going into a box, plus a sheet of paper with the box number on it, then take a digital photo.

Good idea on the photos. As for 60 items, that's the modules and bigger bits. I count door latches and handles as one item, although there's four of each.
I plan on picking it clean, but I don't have the room to hang on to doors and fenders so far. I will take every clip and screw and bolt though, those things can be a bugger to find on other cars.

I'll tell you about mine, but the Canadian market is different for running cars anyway.
$600 Cdn, but it's not a pretty car. The interior is not much use, the seats were redone in leather supposedly, but they look kind of cheap.
The body has scratches etc, again not worth fixing up. The value is in all the modules, cables, latches, radiator, fans, etc. This has a new throttle body, quite expensive by itself, plus it has snow tires on it, again pretty useful.

Throttle body alone is worth more than $600cdn if it works to spec...
Do you have the gray plastic molding that retains the trunk light within the trunk liner? There are two, I need only one.
Also need the small plastic anchor for the visor (the visor-side held in by a single screw) and maybe some other small parts like that - would you be up for selling them?
Thank you

The teardown is on temporary hold while I finish off another household project to (a) keep my wife happy, and (b) free up some room in the garage. Plus I travel a lot for business, all this to say I'm not going to be pulling any parts for a couple weeks.
I'll get back to each of you when I've got some useful info for you, thanks.
