Default I've searched and found nothing specific

I'm new to the Jag world but I've oned over 50 cars and worked on them so there's experience. I have a '98 XJ8 and engine died. I have an '04 XJ8 engine with all accessories, harness and sensors on it , tranny, computers, harness as an 100% complete assembly, would I be able to use it if I use everything of the '04? Thank you for your help.

theres other stuff you need to consider too, like trans, evap system, intrument pack, abs. Youll need wiring diag for both cars and be willing to build and modify harnesses etc...its always doable. But at what expense for both time and money

Thank you for your quick answer, I'll put them side by side and see if it's worth my time versus just getting a fresh bottom end.

So I've been a little busy but I got the 4.0 out and dropped the 4.2 in with a few parts of the old one: P/S pump and bracket, A/C pump, alternator and bracket, lower and upper oil pan with a little trimming for the pick up tube, torque converter, valve covers, timing cover and VVT sensors. So I kept the block, heads and intake manifold but the manifold needs 30 minutes worth of work. I'm using the '98 tranny as it's been rebuilt recently as I found out from the tag on it. To finish up I have to change the fuel line from filter to fuel rail to a '04 and change the fuel injector plug from the harness to the '04 one.

I forgot to mention motor mount brackets since they got a different angle.

I'll take a video but it probably won't be till next week since I'm a little busy this week and also got a bunch of pictures but can't post them since I'm new to the forum. The new engine looks like new with only 19k miles, can't wait.

Give us 5 more 'text' updates, and you'll have full access to your photo gallery, and then the pics will just be flowing onto this thread, right?

From your screen name, can I assume that you have a 1964 Lincoln Continental? I've got a 65 convertible that's been gathering dust in a garage for about 15 years.

Yeah i have a 1964 Continental and it's definitely a long project but it's going to be gorgeous once done. It's hard when you have two money pits, my '64 and my '90 foxbody Mustang but the end result it's going to make it worth every minute. Once I reach that 10 mark I'll have pics up.

Ok, I was reading your posts on you Continental projects. I was researching a local detailer and came across these pics of a '61 they were doing for the Good Guys car show last year. I thought the two of you might enjoy these. It looks pretty sweet with the big wheels.

Hmm, we've followed a similar path - I HAD a 64 1/2 Mustang and a 93 Fox body 5.0. Now, I'd love to find a buyer that would like to take the Lincoln and restore it... I'm never going to have the time. I also have a 66 Austin Healey 3000 that I'm trying to decide whether to restore or get rid of. Time seems to be much more valuable yet scarce these days.

So I got the '04 engine running in my '98 XJ8 but I get code P1336 and the engine runs rough at idle. At higher rpms it's really smooth but it hesitates. Everything is of the 1998 besides block and heads. My cam sensor was working fine before the engine died and so was my crank sensor. Any help is appreciated.
