J gate mechanical end connection?

J gate mechanical end connection?
Hey guys so a question is something suppose to connect to this end of the J gate lever? I understand the transmission cable connects to the threaded bit on the end of the white plastic shown in the picture with a nylon nut but the “bell end” looking piece looks like something is suppose to connect to it or maybe could? Maybe not important but im curious thanks for any reply

That goes to the second leg of the dual linear switch, used for manual mode shifting. When you move the JGate to the 4 position, it slides out and needs to align with the lower arm of the DL switch in the 4 position. 4-3-2 gears are controlled electronically by the DL switch. Couple photos attached of my old shifter in D and then 4, you can see how the nub pops out and would hit the DL switch.
I beleive when you mount the DL switch to the shifter you need to leave the lower arm in the 4 position so this nub will pop right into the socket when you engage manual mode. There's a fore-aft adjustment of the DL switch that I think I remember you're supposed to before you tighten the screws to hold it in place...I'll see if I can find it.
