Default J-Gate Sloppiness: Is it supposed to be so slow?

My car takes like 1+ seconds to downshift when using the J-Gate. Does this mean that the transmission is in need of service, or does it just mean that a J-Gate is a super slow shifter? I seem to remember it once taking 2 seconds to downshift into 2nd. The upshifts are slightly faster BTW. (The lights on the thing are burned out too... both since I bought it. Annoying.)

Anyone else experience this?

It has just now occured to me that this might be a problem, not an inherent fault.

could be either one. why not change the filter and fluid and see if that fixes it.

See if you can have the level read before and after service.

Dollars to donuts that your existing level is low.
